I arrived here by circumstance. I stay here by choice.
Going from a six-figure a year salary to jobless and homeless on the street wasn’t a plan, just the result of a few poor choices and some bad luck. Hitting what society calls “the bottom” initially brought on some heavy weight and anxiety. But once the dust settled, I realized it wasn’t the bottom at all. It was just a different vantage point. Always looking for new experiences, I stripped away the societal noise of what life is “supposed” to look like, found a lifestyle on the fringes that I actually liked, and decided to live it well.
Out here, the contrast is sharp. There’s addiction, mental illness, and the heavy chaos of the streets. But you also find immense good: fierce loyalty, deep compassion, and families built entirely from scratch. There’s something about surviving all this – together – that forms powerful bonds that I’ve not found elsewhere.
I live in this world with an active mind, serious goals, and a desire to capture it all to share with you. I don’t just record the pure reality—I look for the deeper connection, the poetry, if you will, and the emotional truth in what we experience out here. Because the best stories aren’t just seen; they are felt.

Peaceful Morning Moments in the Woods | The Wandering Mick
What my mornings sound like. Crazy peaceful, with birds singing, distant traffic hum, and the occasional plane overhead. I mean… What else could I want? Oh, I wake up with my fam here also, so I got that covered as well 😊

Living on the Streets of Denton, TX – photos
Reflecting on a chapter of my life spent living on the streets of North Texas. Here’s a handful of photos from last year when I was outdoors in Denton, TX. It’s a pretty cool little city with a decent homeless community. I met some good people there but, I returned to North Dallas as my…

“If you bring your asshole friends to Starbucks…”
An honest look at life on the streets and the bonds that keep us alive. Here’s a quick Paul story. We have have been like brothers for almost 10 years, yet he sometimes still manages to surprise the shit out of me. One day this past winter, Paul and I are sitting on the side…

Few Days Off Out Here…
This is a re-post of something I’d written for the old site, because just this morning (er. afternoon) I was telling Paul I needed a day off. One where I didn’t need to hit the corner straight away, gather shit, grocery shop, and then pack and bike everything home too tired to work on anything…

Flying the High Five – chapter one (rough draft)
High Five Interchange Dallas, TX October 26, 2018 Sound asleep in the driver seat of my little ’03 Mitsubishi Eclipse at the far side of the Gateway Hotel parking lot one cool autumn afternoon, I get that feeling… That sense of a new, unknown, unexpected and unwanted presence. Keeping my eyes closed for a few…

Another Day at the Office
This is the first installment of what I hope to be many “Tales From The Corner”, or “The Office” as we like to refer to it. There are just so many times I walk away feeling infinitely better about the world and the people in it. Sometimes, well… Sometimes I walk away pissed off at…

Man of Words
Setting the record straight with a no-nonsense, honest perspective on life, words, and human connection. Some call me restless. Some might say irresponsible. Others go so far as to say I am haunted. I don’t know about all that, but I know I go where my days take me and take me they do. Good,…

Romanticized
Realization… I romanticize things. We know this. I do it a lot in fact. It’s almost an unintentional effort because it’s often how I really see and feel things. It’s a far better way to view things than pure reality most times, and it certainly makes for better storytelling. Don’t you think? I don’t even…

Don’t wait…
If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what would you say? And why are you waiting? ~ Stephen Levine A personal reflection on the power of unexpected friendship, learning from regret, and a man who believed in me when I hit…

Heroin Diaries
“It was on the streets of Dallas that I learned how to drop my guard and truly care for others. I loved greatly and was greatly loved by my adopted family, dysfunctional as it often was.”
